Uniform FAQ

The Stevens High School Raider Band has a long tradition of proudly wearing the Raider Band uniform. The uniforms are of high quality and should be worn and cared for with that in mind.

The uniform is always worn in its entirety. It is not acceptable, for example, to remove the overlay and coat on the way to your car after a performance.

Always hang up your uniform carefully when not being worn.

Pants are hung crease-to-crease, inseam-to-inseam, blue stripes out.

Coats are hung with the back of the coat along the curved part of the hanger.

Shoes and only shoes always go in the bottom outside pocket of the uniform bag.

This way we keep the dirt only in that pocket.

The silver cord is worn on the right shoulder of the

     marching uniform.

The “guitar plug” cord goes in the front.

One of the plain cords goes under the right sleeve,

and the rest stay on the outside of the sleeve.

Be sure to button the overlay using the buttonhole closest to the angled tip of the strap. Button it so the strap lies flat as in the photo to the left, not the photo on the right.

Slide the bow tie through the loop on the shirt collar to keep it from riding up in the back.
